Acustica Audio, renowned for its cutting-edge audio processing solutions, has unveiled its latest offerings – Midnight and Ash Ultra Flat plug-ins. The Midnight collection introduces four vari-mu compressor emulations, while the Ash Ultra Flat extends the company's suite of clipper plugins.

Midnight Collection

Midnight showcases a range of four vari-mu compressor emulations, meticulously crafted by sampling modern Fairchild-inspired units from diverse manufacturers. Leveraging their advanced Hyper 3 modeling technology, Acustica promises unparalleled sound quality. Notably, the plug-ins incorporate features beyond the original units, providing users with enhanced control without compromising the distinctive sound of the sampled hardware.

The collection operates on a new Aria engine, supporting dynamic and real-time metering displays. A novel anti-aliasing algorithm significantly reduces aliasing issues. The visual interface offers RMS input, output, and gain reduction meters, along with a responsive waveform view providing detailed insights into the audio signal and processing. Users can choose between 3D or Flat GUI options, offering a classic Fairchild-style view or a modern graphical interface.

Listening modes enable standard stereo monitoring, mid or sides auditioning, and a delta mode for precisely understanding the plug-in's impact on the audio. Supporting oversampling rates up to 64x, Midnight promises a versatile and high-quality compression experience.

Ash Ultra Flat Expansion

Building on the success of Ash Ultra, the new Flat variant prioritizes real-time monitoring. Featuring a user-friendly 2D GUI and an algorithmic metering system, this clipper plug-in is hailed by Acustica as one of the best in its class. Its effective aliasing rejection ensures minimal frequency or phase artifacts. As part of the Ash suite, current owners receive a free update including the new Ash Ultra Flat plug-in.

Compatibility and Pricing

Both Midnight and Ash are compatible with Windows 10 or 11 on PCs and macOS 10.15 and above on Macs, supporting VST, AU, and AAX plug-in versions. During the introductory period until December 22, Midnight is available at €99, later priced at €219. Ash is offered at an introductory price of €109 until December 10, 2023, reverting to €199 thereafter. Current Ash owners are entitled to a complimentary update featuring the Ash Ultra Flat plug-in.
