Diversified Supply Chain Secures Production Yields for Advanced Tetraprism Lens in iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max
Apple is diversifying its supply chain for the folded zoom module used in its cutting-edge iPhones. The company has enlisted LG Innotek as an additional supplier to ensure robust production yields, meeting the growing demand for advanced camera technology.
The iPhone 15 Pro boasts a 12-megapixel Telephoto camera with a 3x zoom capability, while its larger counterpart, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, takes a leap forward with an enhanced Telephoto system offering an impressive 5x zoom. Notably, the Pro Max model incorporates a folded glass structure beneath the lens, known as tetraprism technology. This innovative approach reflects light four times, resulting in an extended focal length of 120mm.
Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has consistently predicted the integration of the tetraprism lens with up to 5x optical zoom into the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Speculation also surrounds the iPhone 16 Pro, rumored to feature a larger 6.3-inch display compared to the 6.1-inch screen on the iPhone 15 Pro. This potential increase in size would provide additional internal space, facilitating the incorporation of the advanced tetraprism lens.
Apple's strategic move to include LG Innotek as a supplier reflects the company's commitment to ensuring a seamless production process for its innovative camera technologies. As the demand for enhanced zoom capabilities continues to rise, Apple's efforts to secure diverse suppliers underscore its dedication to delivering cutting-edge features in its future iPhone models.
