Arturia has recently introduced the KeyStep Pro Chroma, a visually striking update to their KeyStep Pro MIDI controller keyboard. This new rendition boasts a sleek dark grey finish adorned with captivating blue LEDs and upgraded knob caps, elevating both aesthetics and functionality for musicians and producers alike.

Design and Connectivity

The KeyStep Pro Chroma maintains the robust sequencing capabilities of its predecessor, featuring four independent polyphonic sequencer tracks and a 24-part drum sequencer. The device offers a plethora of connectivity options, including MIDI, CV, and USB I/O, granting users comprehensive control over both software and hardware instruments.

What sets the Chroma apart is its refined exterior, featuring a sophisticated dark casing complemented by enhanced LEDs and a redesigned knob interface. Notably, users can now personalize the colors of the controller buttons on a per-track basis, adding a touch of personalization to their creative workflow.

Firmware Update 2.5

Arturia accompanies the Chroma release with a firmware update, version 2.5, responding to the valuable feedback from KeyStep Pro users. This update introduces several enhancements, further expanding the device's capabilities.

One significant addition is the ability to send Program Changes on a per-pattern and per-MIDI track basis. This empowers users with greater flexibility in crafting dynamic and evolving musical compositions. Additionally, the introduction of the Fixed Velocity function allows users to set a predetermined velocity value for pressed keys and triggered notes, providing nuanced control through the Velocity encoder.

Navigating the KeyStep Pro Chroma is now more intuitive, with quick access to track settings such as MIDI I/O, Fixed Velocity, and Program Change by pressing Shift and a track number. These settings remain accessible through the Utility menu as well. Furthermore, the Transpose button has gained a new configuration option, allowing it to toggle Transpose Mode when pressed.
