Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot Reveals Exciting Future Plans for the Franchise
In a recent interview on Ubisoft's blog, CEO Yves Guillemot shared promising news for fans of the Assassin's Creed series. Ubisoft is planning to return to a more frequent release schedule reminiscent of the franchise's early years. This strategic shift aims to deliver more regular releases without sacrificing the diversity and uniqueness of each game.
"The goal is to have Assassin's Creed games come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year", Guillemot stated. This marks a potential return to the annual release pattern that saw titles like Assassin's Creed II through Syndicate launch successively from 2009 to 2015. More recently, Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey arrived in 2017 and 2018, and the franchise saw a similar pattern with last year’s Mirage and the upcoming Shadows.
Guillemot emphasized the variety that players can expect from future releases. "There will be plenty of experience variety" for these upcoming games, he assured, hinting at innovative and diverse gameplay experiences. Following Shadows, the next mainline entry, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, is set to surprise players with its unique RPG elements set during the witch trials.
"Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich."
While no specific titles were mentioned, reports suggest that a remake of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, a fan-favorite set during the Golden Age of Piracy, is currently in development.
This announcement promises a dynamic future for Assassin's Creed, blending nostalgic revisits with fresh, innovative experiences that will cater to both long-time fans and new players alike.
