ASUS has announced a new set of updates for its popular gaming handheld, the ROG Ally. The updates include AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) support, promising improved frame rates and smoother gameplay. This announcement comes just a week after ASUS addressed resolution and warranty issues related to SD card failures.

AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF): Boosting Frame Rates and Responsiveness

The highlight of these updates is the addition of AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) support. AFMF is a frame generation technology designed to increase frame rates and provide smoother movement, crucial for optimal gaming performance.

It is integrated into the AMD Software driver and is part of the HYPR-RX feature set. To enable AFMF, users need to activate HYPR-RX within the AMD Software, after installing iGPU driver V31.0.24027.1012. This update also fixes a bug that caused certain textures to become invisible in Final Fantasy X HD Remaster.

New Versions of Armory Crate SE, MCU, and Hotplug Controller

In addition to AFMF, ASUS is rolling out updates to Armory Crate SE (ACSE) 1.4.13, MCU 317, and ASUS Hotplug Controller 3.0.0. These updates aim to improve stability, expand keymapping functionality, and fix sporadic issues with the AMD graphics card driver updates in the Update Center.

ACSE 1.4.13 enhances the display speed of the Game Library, adds more information to the Real-time Monitor overlay when using AFMF, and resolves timeout issues during AMD graphics card driver updates. It also expands the Keymap functionality to allow assignment of keys as trigger keys, such as mapping the M1 button as the Left Trigger. This feature requires MCU 317 or newer.

MCU 317 complements ACSE 1.4.13 by supporting the new keymapping functionality. ASUS Hotplug Controller 3.0.0 focuses on enhancing the stability of the controller's hotplug functionality, providing a smoother user experience.

UnifyDGDll v1.0.0.20: Improving Device Identification

UnifyDGDll v1.0.0.20, released earlier this month, enhances the device identification mechanism for the ROG Omni Receiver, ensuring better recognition and connectivity with various peripherals.

A Comprehensive Update for ROG Ally Users

Overall, these updates bring significant improvements to the ROG Ally, addressing both performance and stability issues. With AMD Fluid Motion Frames and enhanced keymapping functionality, gamers can expect a more responsive and fluid gaming experience. All these updates, except for UnifyDGDll v1.0.0.20, are set to be available later today for download. Make sure to check your ASUS software and update accordingly to enjoy the new features and fixes.
