Title Change Reflects New Heroes' Journey to Save Thedas
BioWare has just released a highly anticipated trailer for the upcoming Dragon Age game, now titled "The Veilguard". The game, initially known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, received its new name a few days ago to better capture the essence of its new heroes and their mission to save Thedas.
According to a blog post from the developers on June 6, 2024, the original title did not adequately convey the significance of these new characters and their narratives.
Scheduled for release in fall 2024, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has not yet announced an exact launch date. However, the newly released trailer has already garnered nearly 1 million views within just 15 hours, signaling strong interest from the fanbase. The trailer introduces seven new heroes:
Additionally, the trailer features Varric, a beloved dwarf character from Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition, whose return has delighted many fans.
Despite the excitement surrounding the new characters and Varric's return, the trailer has received predominantly negative feedback from the community.
Criticisms focus on the game's graphic style, perceived as overly friendly and cartoony for a dark fantasy title, and the background music, considered too cheerful.
BioWare has announced a detailed gameplay reveal set for June 11 at 8:00 a.m. PT. Fans hope this presentation will address their concerns and deliver the dark, immersive atmosphere they expect from the Dragon Age series.
