During Capcom's recent streaming event, the renowned game publisher officially unveiled that a new mainline installment in the iconic Resident Evil series is currently in the works. The confirmation came towards the conclusion of the Capcom Next event, streamed on YouTube, solidifying the franchise's enduring popularity and promising future.
Leading the project is Koshi Nakanishi, acclaimed director of the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Nakanishi expressed both the challenges and excitement of developing the next chapter in such a storied franchise.
"We are making a new Resident Evil. It was really difficult to figure out what to do after 7. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can."
While details about the upcoming game remain scarce, the announcement has already ignited anticipation among fans worldwide, eager to see how Nakanishi will continue to innovate within the survival horror genre.
In addition to this exciting revelation, Capcom also announced the availability of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on Apple's App Store. Players can experience the initial segments of the game for free, with the full base game priced at $19.99 and an additional $20 for the DLC pack.
Capcom's previous entry in the series, Resident Evil Village, released in 2021, achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success. By March 2024, the game had sold over 10 million units globally, underscoring the series' enduring appeal and Capcom's prowess in delivering compelling gaming experiences.
Furthermore, Capcom Next unveiled plans for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, scheduled for release on September 19. This remaster promises enhanced graphics, including improved character models, textures, and lighting, alongside quality-of-life improvements such as auto-saving and refined controls.
These enhancements aim to rejuvenate the beloved open-world zombie action game for modern platforms, including PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Capcom's commitment to quality and innovation in gaming remains evident, ensuring that the legacy of the Resident Evil franchise continues to thrive.
