In a groundbreaking move for music enthusiasts, Elektron has recently announced the release of Analog Rytm OS version 1.70, a significant update to their hybrid drum machine. This update promises a host of new features, enhancing the versatility and sonic capabilities of the acclaimed instrument.
The Analog Rytm 1.70 update introduces five new Machines, expanding the total count to 33 and providing a diverse array of sounds. Notable additions include HH LAB, described as a "laboratory for the most outrageous metallic experiments", and SY CHIP, which pays homage to Elektron's inaugural machine, SidStation. BD and SD ACOUSTIC contribute fresh kick and snare sounds, while SY RAW breathes new life into a popular Syntakt Machine with Rytm's waveforms, offering a spectrum of bass, lead, and melodic percussion sounds.
In addition to the new Machines, Elektron has enriched the existing lineup with expanded parameters. BD SHARP's WAV parameter now features a square waveform, BT CLASSIC boasts a new pitch envelope control, and both CB CLASSIC and CB METALLIC incorporate pulse width parameters. To complement the instrument's melodic capabilities, refined tuning, hi-res semitones, pad scales, and fold functionality have been introduced for Analog Rytm's pads in Chromatic mode.
The sequencer receives a significant upgrade with the addition of a Euclidean mode, featuring two generators that enable the creation of intricate patterns with control over steps, pulses, and offset parameters. The introduction of a Page Loop function allows seamless, continuous work within a specific sequencer page.
Elektron hasn't overlooked the user interface and performance aspects, implementing several GUI improvements and addressing known bugs to enhance the overall user experience.
For musicians eager to explore these new features, the OS upgrade is available as a free download on the Elektron website. Detailed instructions on how to execute the upgrade can be found here.
