Firefox 125.0.1 has arrived in the Release channel, bringing with it a host of new features, enhancements, and security improvements. Among the highlights of this update are support for the AV1 codec for Encrypted Media Extensions (EME), the ability to highlight text in PDF documents, and proactive security measures for potentially risky links.

New Features

1. Improved Video Streaming with AV1 Codec: Firefox now supports the AV1 codec for Encrypted Media Extensions (EME), enabling higher-quality playback from video streaming providers. This enhancement ensures a superior viewing experience for users consuming multimedia content online.
2. PDF Document Highlighting: The Firefox PDF viewer now supports text highlighting, allowing users to mark important passages or make annotations directly within PDF documents. This feature enhances productivity and makes it easier to interact with PDF content within the browser.
3. Enhanced Tab Management: Firefox View now displays pinned tabs in the Open tabs section, with added indicators for various tab statuses such as playing media or notifications. These improvements streamline tab management and make it easier for users to navigate their browsing sessions.
4. Address Autofill Prompt: Users in the US and Canada will now be prompted to save their addresses upon submitting an address form, enabling Firefox to autofill stored address information in the future. This feature enhances convenience and simplifies the form-filling process for users.
5. Proactive Security Measures: Firefox now more proactively blocks downloads from URLs that are considered potentially untrustworthy, bolstering security and protecting users from malicious content.
6. URL Paste Suggestion: The URL Paste Suggestion feature provides a convenient way for users to quickly visit URLs copied to the clipboard. When the clipboard contains a URL and the URL bar is focused, an autocomplete result appears automatically, enabling one-click navigation to the desired URL.   
7. Container Add-on Enhancements: Users of tab-specific Container add-ons can now search in the Address Bar for tabs that are open in different containers, enhancing privacy and customization options within Firefox.
8. Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) Option: Firefox now provides an option to enable Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) while configured to use system proxy settings, offering greater flexibility for users in managing their network configurations.

Changes and Developer Updates

In addition to the new features, Firefox 125.0.1 introduces several changes and updates for developers. These include improvements to keyboard navigation, enhancements to the Debugger panel, and support for various web platform features such as the popover global attribute and WebAssembly multi-memory.
