Leaks Include The 155H & 155U Models
In the relentless stream of leaks surrounding Intel's upcoming Meteor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs, ASUS's Zenbook 14 and Xiaomi's Mi Laptop have joined the fray, unveiling the Core Ultra 7 155H and Core i5-14500HX processors.
ASUS's Zenbook 14 has taken the spotlight with its integration of the powerful Core Ultra 7 155H chip, boasting 16 cores and 22 threads in a configuration of 6 P-Core, 8 E-Core, and 2 low-power E-Cores. Operating at a base frequency of 3.80 GHz and a boost frequency of 4.80 GHz, the CPU offers up to 24 MB of L3 cache. The ASUS Zenbook 14, equipped with 32 GB of LPDDR5 memory, achieved a single-core score of 2422 points and a multi-core score of 12,563 points, indicating the significant performance strides expected from the Meteor Lake series.
Beyond the ASUS Zenbook 14, other laptops featuring the Core Ultra 7 155H include, as reported two days ago, the MSI Prestige 16 AI EVO B1MG, ACER Swift SFG14-72, Xiaomi Mi Laptop, and HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 (16-aa0xx). The minor variations in performance across these devices highlight the impact of thermal/power limits and cooling designs on the overall efficiency of these CPUs in laptops.
Accompanying the high-performance Core Ultra 7 155H is its low-power counterpart, the Core Ultra 7 155U. Configured with a TDP of 15W, this chip features 14 cores and 12 MB of cache, utilizing an E-Core configuration with a clock speed ranging from 2.70 GHz to 4.8 GHz. However, its performance, with a single-core score of 1754 points and a multi-core score of 5774 points, raises questions about its suitability for demanding tasks.
In Xiaomi's upcoming laptop lineup, the flagship Core i9-14900HX steals the spotlight, offering an impressive 24 cores and 32 threads with clock speeds reaching up to 5.6 GHz. This positions it as the fastest-clocked laptop CPU to date. Meanwhile, the Intel Core i5-14500HX, part of the 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh, maintains the same specs as its predecessor but sees a boost in clock speeds, operating at 2.8 GHz base and 4.9 GHz boost.
The Intel Meteor Lake "Core Ultra" CPUs are slated for debut on December 14, with retail availability expected in the following week. As leaks continue to unfold, enthusiasts eagerly await the unveiling of these powerful processors, poised to redefine laptop performance standards. Retail listings of various laptops, including MSI's Prestige lineup, provide a glimpse into the exciting future of Intel's CPU technology.
