Exploring the Fusion of Classic Sound with Modern Modular Synthesis
ALM/Busy Circuits, renowned for its innovative contributions to the Eurorack modular synth world, has unveiled its latest creation: Cizzle. This dual phase distortion Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO) stands as a homage to the iconic sound of Casio's CZ-series synthesizers, enriching the modular synthesis experience with the distinctive CZ flavor.
Cizzle encapsulates the quintessence of CZ synthesis, integrating fundamental design elements while introducing new modulation capabilities. The module's primary and secondary oscillator layers offer a dynamic range of tonal possibilities, complemented by detuning options for intricate sound sculpting. Notably, Cizzle introduces a voltage-controlled chord mode with inversion, accommodating up to eight voices for expansive harmonic exploration.
Oscillator A boasts nine phase-distortion algorithms, allowing for both direct and CV-controlled manipulation, while Oscillator B showcases a CZ resonance waveform and various modes inspired by CZ synthesis techniques. Additionally, Cizzle incorporates an 'end-of-chain' ring modulation function and essential noise modes crucial for faithfully recreating the CZ sound palette.
Each voice in Cizzle features built-in Voltage-Controlled Amplifiers (VCAs), accompanied by a selection of modulation controls and inputs. Users can route each oscillator individually via dedicated outputs or blend them together for processing, enhanced by a stereo widening effect for spatial depth.
