Leaked product page hints at an upgraded version of the acclaimed DualSense controller, possibly bundled with a charging station
Sony's DualSense controller has been widely lauded as one of the best controllers for PlayStation console, offering an immersive gaming experience. Recent leaks suggest that Sony might be working on a 'v2' version of the DualSense controller, accompanied by an intriguing addition – a DualSense Charging Station.
The leak, originating from a now-inactive product page on Best Buy Canada, was discovered by user @Lbabinz. While the page is no longer live, it briefly showcased the new controller version and hinted at an included accessory. The description explicitly labeled the controller as a "v2" version and mentioned the inclusion of a DualSense Charging Station. Although images of the charging station were absent, speculation suggests it might be the same accessory released separately in 2020 alongside the PlayStation 5.
The DualSense Charging Station is a minimalist stand designed to accommodate two controllers, providing easy click-in charging functionality. The product description emphasized the convenience of the charging process, fitting both the standard DualSense and the DualSense Edge. Users have even reported successful use with third-party controllers, such as the SCUF Reflex FPS.
One notable point of interest is the potential pricing strategy for the DualSense v2 Controller. The leaked Best Buy Canada listing displayed a price of $89.99 CAD, which, when converted, is approximately $67 USD. However, it's crucial to recognize that conversion rates may not accurately reflect the final US price. Considering that the original DualSense is priced at $69.99 USD without a charging station, there's speculation that the new version might be bundled with the accessory for $89.99 USD.
Alternatively, Sony could adopt a consumer-friendly approach by offering the charging station as a complimentary inclusion with the new version. If this were the case, it would be a strategic move to enhance the value proposition for consumers. Currently, the standard DualSense controller is priced at $89.99 CAD in Canada and $69.99 USD in the US.
While these speculations remain unconfirmed, such a move by Sony would be well-received by the gaming community. The potential to acquire an upgraded controller along with a charging station at a comparable or lower price than the existing models is an enticing prospect for gamers.
