Latest leaks surrounding Nothing's highly anticipated smartphone launch
In recent days, the spotlight has once again shifted to Nothing, the innovative tech company founded by Carl Pei, as leaks from @billbil_kun shed light on the pricing and potential release details of their latest offering, the Phone (2a).
According to the prolific leaker, @billbil_kun, the Phone (2a) promises to be a "clear upgrade" over its predecessor, the Phone (1). While Nothing initially hinted at a February 27 release for the Phone (2a), it now appears that eager consumers may need to wait until March 5 for the unveiling. This delay has led to speculation that Nothing could leverage the stage of Mobile World Congress 2024 to showcase key elements of the Phone (2a).
@billbil_kun's leaks further suggest that Nothing will offer the Phone (2a) in four different configurations, echoing their approach with the Phone (2). Notably, the leaker accurately predicted the pricing of the Phone (2), which retailed for €729 and €849 for 256 GB and 512 GB variants, respectively. However, @billbil_kun mistakenly claimed there would be no 128 GB option, a detail later contradicted by Nothing's official announcement of a €679 price tag in the Eurozone and $599 in the US.
As for the Phone (2a), rumors indicate a starting price of €349 for the base model, featuring 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in sleek black and white color options. For those seeking more storage and power, Nothing will reportedly offer a 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant priced at €399, again available in black and white finishes.
Interestingly, the leaked pricing also highlights a notable gap between the Phone (2) and the Phone (2a), with a difference of €330 between the two models. This positioning suggests that Nothing is strategically targeting different market segments with their diverse product lineup, catering to a wide range of consumer preferences and budgets.
