In its latest Patch Tuesday release, Microsoft has issued an update for both Windows 11 23H2 and 22H2 with the same KB5033375 update. However, users should note that the Build number will differ based on the Windows version—22621.2861 for 22H2 and 22631.2861 for 23H2. This update primarily focuses on addressing security issues within the Windows operating system, according to Microsoft.

Known Issues and Workarounds

  • IT Admins Alert: Users employing the FixedDrivesEncryptionType or SystemDrivesEncryptionType policy settings in BitLocker via mobile device management (MDM) apps may encounter a 65000 error in the "Require Device Encryption" setting. This issue is purely a reporting glitch and doesn't affect drive encryption. A workaround for Microsoft Intune users involves setting the relevant policies to "not configured."
  • Multimonitor Glitches: Windows devices with more than one monitor might experience problems with desktop icons moving unexpectedly during Copilot usage. To prevent this, Copilot in Windows (in preview) may be temporarily unavailable on devices in a multimonitor configuration. Microsoft is actively working on resolving this issue.
  • Font Format Rendering Issue: The color font format for COLRv1, responsible for displaying emojis with a 3D-like appearance, does not render properly. Microsoft is actively working on a resolution.
  • Narrator Initialization Problem: When installing Windows 11, version 23H2 via physical media or ISO, Microsoft Narrator might not start during the installation process. This issue doesn't occur when updating through Windows Update on an existing Windows 10 or 11 device. A fix for this problem is underway, and Microsoft plans to provide updated media for installations without this Narrator issue.

Users are advised to keep an eye on upcoming releases for resolutions to these known issues. While the update is set to arrive automatically through Windows Update, offline installations can be facilitated by downloading it from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
