Next-Gen Neural Processing Units, Arm and Intel Options, and Enhanced Displays Elevate the Surface Experience
Microsoft is gearing up to revolutionize its Surface lineup with cutting-edge AI-enabled features. The upcoming Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 are poised to introduce a new era of computing, boasting a next-gen Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and offering users the choice between Intel and Arm-based options.
The Arm-based devices from Microsoft will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X chips, codenamed CADMUS. These devices are strategically designed to leverage the power of AI features that Microsoft plans to integrate into a forthcoming Windows release. These PCs will not only deliver AI capabilities but also enhance overall performance, extend battery life, and fortify security, putting them on par with Apple's formidable silicon offerings.

For the Intel version of the devices, the Surface Pro 10 is expected to feature the company's cutting-edge 14th-gen chips. Alongside the upgraded internals, this iteration is rumored to include a brighter display with HDR support and an anti-glare coating. Users may have the option to choose from resolutions of either 2160 x 1440 or 2880 x 1920. Additionally, the Surface Pro 10 might feature rounded corners, resembling the design language of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio lineup. A notable addition could be a new Type Cover with a dedicated button for Windows Copilot.
As for the Surface Laptop 6, the smaller model will sport a slightly larger 13.8-inch display, a departure from the 13.5-inch display found in its predecessor. The 15-inch model, however, is expected to maintain its current size. Similar to the Surface Pro 10, the Surface Laptop 6 might feature a rounded display with thinner bezels, providing a sleek and modern aesthetic. Reports hint at new ports, including two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, and one for Surface Connect charging. The device is also rumored to include a haptic touchpad and a dedicated keyboard button for Windows Copilot.
While Microsoft is anticipated to unveil the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 in the coming year, industry insiders are already buzzing about a more significant design change for the Surface Pro in 2025.
