From Advanced Charging Options to AI-Infused Wallpapers, What's in Store for Users
Samsung's One UI 6 made its debut a few months ago, ushering in a stable version that left users anticipating the next update. A recent leak from tipster Tarun Vats provides a glimpse into what One UI 6.1 might have in store.
According to Vats, One UI 6.1 could enhance Samsung's "Protect battery" feature, granting users greater autonomy over their device's charging behavior. The leak suggests the addition of three new charging options: Basic, Adapt, and Max. Vats hints at a potential rebranding of "Protect battery" to the more straightforward "Battery protection."
Basic mode is rumored to cease charging when the phone hits 100%, only resuming when the battery depletes to 95%. The Adapt setting mirrors Google Pixel's adaptive charging, pausing at 80% during typical sleeping hours and completing the charge before waking. Meanwhile, Max purportedly prevents the phone from charging beyond 80%. Given the impact of charging lithium batteries to full capacity or letting them dip below 20% on degradation, these options offer valuable control.

Beyond charging enhancements, One UI 6.1 might draw inspiration from Google's AI-generated wallpapers. The leaker suggests that "Wallpaper services" will undergo "more customization," hinting at a potential role for Samsung's AI in this aspect.
While the official release of One UI 6.1 is likely a bit down the road, the leaked features indicate that the update could be well worth the wait for Samsung enthusiasts eagerly anticipating an enhanced user experience.
