In an anticipated celebration of its ten-year journey, OnePlus is set to host a significant event on Monday, December 4, in China. The co-founder and CEO, Pete Lau, will take center stage, commemorating a decade of innovation, although notably absent will be co-founder Carl Pei, who departed Oppo to co-establish the company on December 16, 2013.

The initial vision of OnePlus was to provide an alternative to the prevailing trend of powerful yet expensive smartphones. Over the years, the company achieved notable success, making a splash with the OnePlus 3 and 3T following the groundbreaking flagship killer, OnePlus One. However, as time passed, the dynamics shifted, the company matured, and costs rose, transforming OnePlus from a startup into a seasoned player capable of undertaking ambitious projects such as foldable devices.

"OnePlus 12 flagship of the decade"

Despite the absence of Carl Pei, Pete Lau is gearing up for a momentous celebration on December 4th at 7 p.m. Speculation is rife that the event will not only mark the company's tenth anniversary but also witness the unveiling of the OnePlus 12. The likelihood of the OnePlus 12, accompanied by its almost identical Chinese counterpart, the Ace 3, making their debut is exceedingly high.

The groundwork for this unveiling has been laid for weeks, particularly evident when OnePlus proudly presented the Oriental Screen produced by BOE. Numerous clues dropped by the company suggest a strong focus on the OnePlus 12 for this milestone celebration. Li Jie Louis, the head of OnePlus China, fueled the anticipation by declaring the event as the "OnePlus 12 flagship of the decade" on Weibo. Similarly, the official OnePlus Weibo account made a direct reference to the OnePlus 12, describing it as the "long-awaited tenth anniversary of OnePlus."

The teaser image shared by OnePlus on Weibo further adds to the intrigue. It features Pete Lau, presumably, at the center of a watch dial with hands pointing to 10, potentially indicating not only the ten-year celebration but also hinting at the unveiling of the Watch 2. Rumors surrounding the Watch 2 have been circulating, and it seems the event could serve as the perfect platform for its introduction.

With a plethora of speculations and hints, the only certainty is that OnePlus is poised to blow out ten candles on its birthday cake in two weeks. While the focus is expected to be on the new generation of its flagship, the OnePlus 12, additional details and surprises may unfold as the event date approaches.
