After months of speculation and leaks, Realme has officially dropped the curtain on its highly-anticipated flagship, the Realme GT 5 Pro. Positioned as the crème de la crème, this smartphone boasts state-of-the-art specifications and an array of impressive features. Let's delve into a comprehensive overview of what the Realme GT 5 Pro brings to the table.

Design and Display

Realme has placed a paramount focus on both aesthetics and functionality in the design of the GT 5 Pro. The device flaunts an expansive heat dissipation unit with an extensive 12,000mm2 surface area, ensuring peak performance for its robust internals. The rear panel showcases a glass cover (vegan leather for the orange and white variants) and a conspicuous circular camera island that plays host to the image sensor.

On the front, the smartphone boasts an imposing 6.78-inch 8T LTPO 1.5K OLED display. The screen is a spectacle, offering an adaptive 144Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, 2160Hz touch sampling rate, DC dimming, Pro-XDR technology, and an impressive brightness range from 1600 nits of global max brightness to a staggering 4,500 nits of peak brightness. The curved edges and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera contribute to the device's sleek aesthetic.

Beneath the surface, the Realme GT 5 Pro is fueled by Qualcomm's cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, ensuring a top-tier performance for daily use and gaming enthusiasts. It flaunts up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Powering the device is a robust 5,400mAh battery, supporting a swift 100W wired fast charging and a commendable 50W wireless fast charging.

Realme commits to delivering three years of major Android OS updates and four years of security updates. The smartphone runs on the Android 14 OS with Realme UI 5.0. Additional features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, VC cooling system, USB 3.2 enabled USB-C port, and an AI super assistant equipped with intelligent speech generation and a 7-billion-parameter AI model.

An innovative touch is the support for various hand gestures, including pinch gestures for seamless app navigation and palm unlock, touted to be faster than facial recognition, achieved through machine learning involving 10,000 models.

Camera

The Realme GT 5 Pro boasts an impressive camera setup. On the rear, it features a 50-megapixel primary camera (Sony’s LYT-808 sensor) with OIS, a 50-megapixel periscopic telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom and up to 120x hybrid zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The front houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

Pricing and Availability

Available in Black, White, and Orange, the Realme GT 5 Pro comes in multiple storage configurations. The 12GB + 256GB variant starts at 3,399 Yuan (approximately 479 US Dollars) but boasts an introductory price of 3,298 Yuan ($465). The 16GB + 256GB model is priced at 3,699 Yuan (roughly $520) but will be available at a launch price of 3,598 approximately $506. The 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB variants are priced at $563 and $605 respectively, with reduced launch prices of $548 and $590.

Pre-orders are currently live in China, with the first sale slated for December 14, 2023. The Realme GT 5 Pro aims to make a significant splash in the flagship smartphone market with its formidable features and competitive pricing.
