NAMM 2024 has come and gone, leaving enthusiasts buzzing with excitement over the latest innovations in music technology. While many anticipated releases were showcased, Kurzweil surprised the industry by revealing two new synthesizers, the K2061 and K2088, as part of their upcoming K20 series. These instruments aim to resurrect the beloved K2000 Synthesizer from the 90s, promising a fusion of vintage charm and cutting-edge capabilities.

The K20 series represents Kurzweil's commitment to revitalizing iconic instruments with modern technology. Featuring the K2061 with a 61-note synth action and the K2088 with an 88-key full-weighted hammer action keybed with aftertouch, these synthesizers boast a new industrial design characterized by aluminum and steel enclosures.

At the heart of the K2061 and K2088 lies the rebuilt V.A.S.T engine, a hallmark of the original K2000 Synthesizer. This engine offers 32 layers per program and customizable algorithms, empowering users to craft intricate soundscapes with ease. From flashback sample playback to virtual analog and 6-operator FM synthesis, these instruments provide a versatile sonic palette reminiscent of the K2000 era.

One of the standout features of the K20 series is its compatibility with vintage sounds. Kurzweil has painstakingly recreated the K2000 synth library, ensuring full compatibility with K2 era libraries. This enables musicians to access the timeless sounds of the past while leveraging the advancements of modern technology.
