A Hub for Creativity and Sustainability
Roland, the renowned leader in music technology, is set to take its headquarters to a whole new level. The company recently announced ambitious plans to create a dynamic global headquarters in Hamamatsu, Japan. This project is more than just a new office; it's a testament to Roland's commitment to fostering creativity, sustainability, and community engagement.
The heart of this new endeavor is the expansion of a building that Roland acquired earlier in the year. This expansion will transform the existing structure into a complete square, featuring an impressive open atrium known as the 'Roland Arena'. This central gathering point will serve as not only a meeting area but also as a versatile performance space.
Surrounding the Roland Arena, the 'Roland Circuit' will provide well-lit, open communication areas and creatively designed offices. The intention is to create an environment that inspires employees to maximize their creative potential while enhancing productivity.
One noteworthy aspect of this project is that it's a renovation and remodeling effort rather than a completely new construction. Roland's choice highlights its commitment to sustainability. By utilizing natural light and ventilation through the atrium, the company aims to keep energy consumption in check, leading to significant cost savings over time.
Notably, the Roland Arena is not only reserved for employees. It's designed to be accessible to both company staff and the local community. This decision underscores Roland's belief in the power of music to bring people together, fostering a sense of togetherness and creativity beyond the workplace.
Roland Corporation CEO, Gordon Raison, expressed his enthusiasm for this groundbreaking project, saying
"I am pleased to announce the groundbreaking construction of our newest headquarters in Hamamatsu, where Roland’s been able to build a strong foundation for many years."
He continued:
"We’re confident this new structure will help to deepen employee communication, creating an environment in which all employees can fully embrace creativity to help shape the music of the future."
Work on this impressive three-story headquarters is set to commence in August 2024, with completion anticipated in 2025. Once finished, the building will boast a total area of approximately 77,522 square feet (7,202 square meters) with a floor area of about 218,830 square feet (20,330 square meters).
In terms of investment, the project comes with a price tag of 7 billion yen, roughly equivalent to $46.5 million. While this is a significant financial commitment, it demonstrates Roland's dedication to creating a space that fosters creativity, innovation, and community engagement.
Roland's new global headquarters in Hamamatsu it's poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of music technology.
