Samsung's Latest Venture into High-Performance Computing
In a recent revelation, Roland Quandt and WinFuture have disclosed fresh insights into Samsung's pioneering foray into the realm of high-performance computing with its first Snapdragon X Elite-powered laptop, shortly after its appearance on Geekbench. This unveiling follows Qualcomm's showcase of the Snapdragon X Elite during MWC 2024, where intricate details about the processor were separately elucidated.
The Galaxy Book4 Edge has made its presence known through two distinct listings on Geekbench, masquerading under the moniker of the Galaxy Book4 Edge. It's noteworthy that Samsung had recently secured a patent for this nomenclature with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), solidifying Quandt's reference to the device.
About that new Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge... yes it will be one of the first devices w/ @Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite, feat a 14" screen, 16/512GB and plenty of power rivaling Apple M2/M3, but it'll also cost ~1800 Euro MSRP. https://t.co/Xx2KswE4pp

Geekbench scores reveal a promising performance trajectory for the Galaxy Book4 Edge coupled with the Snapdragon X Elite chipset, bringing it strikingly close to the benchmarks demonstrated by Qualcomm during the Snapdragon Summit of the previous year. In multi-core tasks, the Galaxy Book4 Edge surpasses the Apple M3, albeit leveraging 50% more CPU cores. However, it falls short when pitted against the more analogous 12-core Apple M3 Pro and lags behind current-generation Apple SoCs in single-core benchmarks.
Reports indicate that Samsung plans to augment the Snapdragon X Elite with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, aligning with the base memory configuration offered in the Galaxy Book4 Pro and Galaxy Book4 Pro 360.
According to Quandt's insights, the Galaxy Book4 Edge is anticipated to debut within the price range of €1,700 to €1,800. While this positions the Snapdragon X Elite-powered device at a higher price point compared to the base models of MacBook Air 13 and MacBook Air 15, the narrative shifts when configuring either of Apple's offerings with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Similarly, the MacBook Pro 14 commences at €1,999, albeit with 8 GB of RAM, presenting a competitive edge for the Galaxy Book4 Edge in terms of memory configuration.
With robust specifications and competitive pricing, Samsung aims to carve a niche for itself in the fiercely contested laptop market, offering consumers a compelling alternative to established players like Apple.
