Sharp is making a splash in the smartphone market with the launch of its latest model, the Aquos wish4, primarily known for its robust design. This new smartphone is certified with MIL-STD-810H, indicating that it can withstand a drop from 1.22 meters onto concrete without damaging the display. The ruggedness doesn't stop there, as the Aquos wish4 also offers protection against dust and water ingress, meeting the IPX5, IPX8, and IP6X certifications.

Despite its focus on durability, the Aquos wish4 provides more than just a tough exterior. The smartphone comes with a 6.6-inch display, though its resolution is somewhat lower at 1612 x 720 pixels. The MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC powers the device, along with 4 gigabytes of RAM, which may not meet the higher-end standards expected in 2024 but should still be adequate for everyday tasks.

Running on Android 14, the Aquos wish4 offers 64 gigabytes of internal memory, providing sufficient storage for most users. The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, with the latter also supporting facial recognition for unlocking the device. Additionally, a fingerprint sensor allows for fast biometric login.

The connectivity features of the Aquos wish4 are up to modern standards, with support for NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. The Aquos wish4 is set to launch in early July 2024, with the initial market rollout planned for Japan. While the phone's specifications might not make it a high-performance device, its ruggedness and durability could attract users seeking a reliable and tough smartphone.
