WhatsApp is gearing up to enhance user experience with the introduction of high-quality photos and videos for Status updates. The beta version for Android, v2.23.26.3, reveals an underdevelopment HD Status feature, although it remains unavailable for testing at present, as reported by WABetaInfo.

WhatsApp users are already familiar with sending HD photos and videos to contacts and groups. The upcoming feature will introduce an "HD" button in the drawing editor, enabling users to upload media in superior quality when creating a WhatsApp Status.

For those unfamiliar with WhatsApp Status, it functions similarly to Instagram Stories, allowing users to share text, photos, videos, and GIFs for a duration of up to 24 hours. However, both parties must be in each other's contacts to send and receive Status updates, located in the Updates tab.

Meanwhile, the beta version for iOS, v23.25.10.72, hints at another anticipated update: the ability to share music audio during video calls. Though not yet available for beta testers, a preview shared by WABetaInfo showcases this underdevelopment feature.

Earlier this year, WhatsApp introduced screen sharing for video calls across Android, iOS, and Windows. However, the absence of audio sharing for content like YouTube, Netflix, or video games left users wanting. The upcoming feature aims to bridge this gap, bringing WhatsApp closer to FaceTime's SharePlay, allowing users to enjoy movies or music together during video calls.

Expanding its features further, WhatsApp is actively working on incorporating a username search option, complementing the existing username feature yet to reach the stable version. Additionally, Android users may soon benefit from a search messages by date option, alongside a shortcut button facilitating easy access to the app's AI-powered chatbot.

As these features progress through beta testing, WhatsApp users can anticipate an enriched and more versatile messaging experience in the near future.
